December

Hello visitor! Long time no see! I decided to call this post "December", just "December" because there are no news at all. I still have a lot of job to do(many clients want to record their songs for Christmas), in short, no progress at all. You'll probably ask me why am I still posting. The project is not dead and still waiting for it's refreshing. I simply don't want to cancel this project because I know it will be awesome. I will not make any surprises this Christmas but I hope to bring you the demo on January(almost whole January is free for me). Cheers visitor and don't lose your hope! Meet ya next year ;)

October News!

Dang! Seems like I cannot take a part in NCFC! My demo is still unfinished! Story of most fan game makers repeats again! Argh, I must do something...well.. already doing! I'm going to create my commercial games dev log soon!
My fan game went through numerous fixes while I was working on a commercial project so I think that's a plus for this time anyway. Guys I know you want to play the demo but I still need to fix some details! From now on I'll continue this blog with some new screens and pics, and maybe a performance test #2 soon, stay tuned!
P.S.: Ah, tired to give lots of promises... go work! ;)

August News! Post #2

En Taro Adun, visitor!
Today there are not much news but another cool picture by Paul Olak, you can see it up there! There will be other works by Paul on my site closer to October, you're also welcome to make some cool concept or fan art! :)
So what's gonna happen after tech demo release?

1) I'm going to create a forum;
2) Since there is a lot of people willing to help me, I'm planning to start recruiting;
3) I was planning to update the site but I didn't think there'll be so much material to add! The site is going to become very interesting, thanks to you guys!

Another thing:
4) Metroid: The X-Child slightly morphs into collaborative work! That means that you can also take a part in convention of this game! Create some stories, concept art, music - all creations will be gladly accepted! Don't forget about your names so I will be able to post them in credits section!

You can still become follower of the "Metroid: The X-Child" blog! Thanks for attention! Gotta go, work awaits! Cheers, visitor! ;D

2) I'm going to showcast my fan game on Nintendo Community Fangame Convention site (NCFC)! Visit www.nintendocfc.com if you wanna more information about what is it.

July News! Post #2

Greetings, Visitor!
Today I have not much news for you unfortunately. I have made a great progress, even greater than before but there are some changes so I have to remake my engine because it's not optimized enough so the system requirements are very high(see June News! Post #2), some codes are broken and so on. I played some games recently("Aquaria", "Braid", "Spine World", "The Underside on TIG Source" , "Scary Girl") and noticed that all games are highly detailed but very stabil. I understood that I've made a lot of mistakes in my engine.
So I decided to release a small tech demo without any plot closer to October. Why October? First of all, it's second half July and I've got some shows on August in Sochi city (I spend my time on rehearsals last weeks), I have loads of work(my recording studio also takes much time), then I'll leave for Moscow for a while. When I arrive at home, I'll finish the demo and post it here, in my Metroid: The X-Child Blog. After that I'm going to rewrite the whole code and redo all the graphics but that'll be another story.
Visitor, I need your support - spread a word about this game or become a follower, that will really warm my heart up and give some new strength to work on the engine!
Cheers Visitor and see you on "August News"! :)

July News!

Hello again visitor! It's July and I have a bunch of news for today!
While I was working on the engine I've got a lot of advices from people around. Sooooo:

1) Each part of the main character was redrawn - now we've got a new version of our demo hero, here it is!

Now the space man looks better,huh? :)
2) Getting experienced with 3DSMax8. One of the ships from the demo:

3) A deadline will be anounced soon, keep checking the blog page! :)
4) Working on a site update - there will be some big changes closer to August!

That's all for today. More information will come with the "July News! Post#2". Keep checking my blog! You can also subscribe to RSS, check my IGN page or become the follower of this blog! Thanks for your attention, comments are welcome as always! :)

June News! Post #2

It's June, 15! How are you? Still interested? Here are some news!

1)"Made in IGN"! :D

Now you can find all news related to my games on IGN! Don't forget about my main site android-music.ucoz.com ! I'll be very glad to see your comments in my guestbook! :)
2) Some small progress as always! Making some cinematics, here are some screenshots!

Those screenshots are a little bit outdated. I've posted them to show you some signs of progress and not to spoil the game! Of course those screenies are causing a lot of questions! That makes some sense! :) There will be some fresh ones on July.
3) Welcome our first follower! Congratulations Matt, you're the first of several hundreds of people who watched the blog and decided to follow this blog!
You can also become the follower of this blog, dear guest! Feel free to join the blog, get RSS and surely post comments!
4) There will be a site update soon! Two clues: it will become larger and it will become brighter! :) All the information goes with the "July News!" post.

Unfortunately I've got no videos for today because most of my attention goes to the trailer! However there will be some short demos in the "July News!" post! Still not posting the deadline to avoid some unnecessary moments!

Now to the most interesting!
Wanna become a play tester of this engine? You can still download this little tech demo prebuild(was made in an hour) so you can find out if your computer will be able to run the main tech demo. I'll be posting links to some new, more optimized demos, made in an hour or two. To run this demo you need to have a video card with P.S. 2.0 shader support, OGG Vorbis audio format support(.ogg - I'm sure you have it) and latest DirectX 9.0 build. My computer runs the game very well with AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (1.96 Mhz) processor, nVidia Geforce 6600 video card and DDR 1GB RAM.

That's all for now! Gotta go, a lot of work awaits! >:D
Comments are welcome! :)

June News!

Hello again! It's June already! That means only one thing - holidaaaaays! Did you think how are you going to spend your holidays? One advice: if you're planning to spend your holidays sitting in front of blue display, you're losing your time! Stand up, take your phone and book a ticket to the sea! Ok, now to the news!

Some minor changes as usual:

1) Reworked the site a bit - at least there's more information about the project!
2) Reworked the engine again - there were some small bugs - thanks to play testers!
3) The demo is growing - it's 6 mb already!
4) Bad news - there will be no Game Boy Advanced version and no Flash version. Concentrated on the main object - exe.
5) Working on a trailer - a guy with a powerful 4 core cpu and superb Geforce card agreed to help me! :)
6) Members page is no more since I decided to work on the game alone for a while because there is no work for other members yet.

Some interesting facts:

1) 342 people were willing to test the engine, even that number was rather big for me(it's very hard to choose play testers)! Today there are 3 play testers, each of them has a great game playing experience!
2) I gave a show with some of the "Metroid'y" tunes on a local bike fest! Don't think there are only electronic tracks in the game list! ;)
3) I'm a bad student - most of my copy-books were drawn all over with the game concepts!

There will be fresh screenshots this month in "June News! Post #2"!
Check my tunes on myspace!
Cheers a lot!

May News! Post #2

Got major improvement on the engine!

1)All moves became smoother
2)Fixed a lot of bugs:

-------a)The mc (main character) is
not jumping like a mad goat anymore;
-------b)The mc is not moving like
a statue at some moments anymore;
-------c)Morph ball problem solved;

3)Added a motion effect to the morph ball mode;
4)Improved textures: new look, less gpu affecting;
5)Made animations smoother;

Here are some screenshots:

And that's what the main menu will probably look like:

This is the old version, I made it while working on the engine in Flash CS3.

This is the first poster/wallpaper(whatever) for the Metroid:The X-Child tech demo.

And another test video:

If you wanna see what engine do I use, you can download this simple short scroller, made in an hour just to show you the capabilities of the engine and let you know wheter you computer will be able to play it without lags:

http://ioj.com/313401/1hbj33thlvc.zip

So you see I'm not a lazy bone and I have a lot of things to show you! :) While others are getting satisfied with their unfinished "dreams" and flaming on each other I'm working on the game and almost always ready to show you some interesting pics, videos and even share my game plots with you!

P.S: Wish me good luck people cause I'm goin' to have a hard journey soon! There is a lot of things to do!

Bye till June!

May News!

Sorry for delay, but I'm still working on this demo. Btw I was surprised too see posts in my blog! :)
I was away for several months so I didn't have time to edit my posts here! I think it's better not to make any deadlines so I decided just to report porgress on my fan game!

So what do we have now:

1) An engine ready to work
2) Some maps
3) Damn my char's moves are so smooth!!! :3
4) Plot(main thing!!!)
5) Music
6) A charge of health

Okay, here are some screens of the tech demo:

AH, Almost forgot!
I have some test videos on my early engine version! Here's one of them:

As for the site, I think I'll make some updates on it later, when I'll have enough materials to show you! Meanwhile you can enjoy my music on my site: there are also links to myspace and newgrounds profile! Cheers!
